The United Mission for African Children offers two programs for adolescent boys and girls, particularly those coming from non-traditional homes.  Both of these programs are designed to enhance cultural awareness and resiliency.

Leadership Development

Our leadership development program is designed to help youth develop tolerance and critical thinking skills.  We provide structured learning activities for youth to identify and utilize their strengths and talents.  Peer mentors provide ongoing support and encouragement to empower them to be the change they wish to see in the world.  Youth in our leadership development program covers the following components:

  • Cultural Awareness/Education
  • Life Skills Training
  • Strength & Aptitude Assessment
  • Social Issues
  • Volunteer Service Activities

African Expedition

This week long mission trip provides our youth with the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to cultural norms of children living in Africa.  During their visit, youth participate in developmentally appropriate activities with peers from Africa.  These activities include:

  • Peer Partnering
  • History Tour
  • Sports Exchange Day
  • Farm Visitation
